In-home pediatric therapy is a personalized and nurturing approach to your child’s therapy that takes place in the comfort of your own home.

This innovative approach to traditional in-clinic therapy is designed to support children who may benefit from a more individualized therapy session; one that is tailored to their unique needs and challenges within their own home.

Our play-based activities and interactive exercises allow our team of skilled therapists to engage with your child in the most meaningful way for them.

So let’s dive in and answer the most asked questions about in-home therapy for kids!

The 5 Biggest Questions About In-Home Therapy For Kids

1. Why in-home therapy instead of in a clinical setting?

Your child is most comfortable in their own environment and this level of comfort helps them feel confident to work on new skills and face activities that may initially be challenging and overwhelming.

Our therapists are also able to utilize materials and spaces in your home so you and your family can easily replicate activities and exercises between therapy sessions. This carryover is so important to consistency and building upon newly acquired skills.

2. Does insurance cover in-home visits?

Yes! Beyond Speech accepts BCBS PPO and many other plans offer the same coverage for in-home services as they do for in-clinic sessions.

3. What should I have ready for in-home visits?

Our therapists will arrive with wonderful therapy focused toys and activities but there are things you can do to make sure your child’s session is as fun as possible!

It’s a great idea to have some of their favorite and most age appropriate toys ready and available. Incorporating these items helps with carryover and also allows the child to feel more comfortable.

Before you visit, have a space ready for your therapist to work one-on-one with your child; although the session may take them elsewhere in the house, having a designated spot is a great way to prepare.

4. How are family members included in in-home visits?

It is a great idea, and very beneficial for your child to have Mom, Dad or a Caregiver within earshot of the therapy session.

This will allow you to understand what the therapist is targeting, how they are working toward goals and give you ideas for how to continue working on skills between sessions.

At times, and depending on the session, siblings can be motivating and helpful as well! Your therapist will let you know when and if sibling involvement is appropriate.

5. Do you have a waitlist?

One of the greatest things about our private, in-home therapy model is that Beyond Speech does not have the same restrictions as clinic settings – available space, staffing, office hours, etc.

As a result, we often do not typically have an extensive waitlist! Our team of therapists also covers a wide area of the southwest and western suburbs of Chicago so there is usually someone very nearby.

At Beyond Speech Therapy Specialists, we are so proud of the amazing work we do and the wonderful families we have the pleasure of working with!
